When we walk around with resentment because we’re not able to forgive, we’re acting like we know better than God. The Bible reminds us that it’s not our job to worry about justice. Romans 12:19 says, “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord” (NIV). Who has a better arsenal to repay—you or God? Who can settle the score better—you or God? I think God! If I have to choose whether I’m going to get back at someone or let God be the God of justice, I’m going to let God do his thing. I’m going to choose to leave it to God. It is better to forgive and release ourselves rather than stay angry or remain bitter.
